What is sculptra^®?

sculptra^®gradually replaces lost collagen and provides structure that lets your new look emerge more discreetly.

sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA. It is biocompatible, which means it will not harm your body. PLLA has been used for many years in dissolvable stitches and medical implants, and has been used cosmetically in Europe since 1999.

Are the results seen immediately?

No. sculptra aesthetic helps to gradually replace lost collagen and gives you natural-looking results that can last up to 2 years.

How many treatments are needed?

Most commonly, 3 vial sessions are performed approximately 4 weeks apart. In some cases, patients may require more than 3 vials.

Are the injections painful?

When performed by a trained physician, Sculptra^® injections should only cause slight discomfort. Though Sculptra^® is injected into the skin, it is injected in tiny amounts using an ultra-fine needle. To optimize your comfort, your trained physician may choose a local anesthetic in the treatment area prior to injecting.

How long do treatments last?

Treatment effects will differ for each person. In a clinical study most patients had  treatment results that lasted for up to 2 years after the first treatment session.  Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.

Is there any downtime?

No. Most people return to work or normal activities immediately following treatment.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effects with the use of Sculptra^® include injection-related side effects at the site of the injection, such as bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising, or swelling.  These side effects generally last, on average, 3 to 17 days.
